Change is Good

It's been a hectic week, to say the least. I started Park City Track on Monday and I was honestly terrified. It's always hard for me to start something new because I worry about being weak compared to the others. I'm the kind of person that feels the need to be the best at everything, which is obviously not possible and I'm still trying to accept that. Anyway, after a couple days I had finally prepared myself for the first day. Everyone had hyped up the first week as being hell week, I was just anxious to get the workout. Monday finally came and I walked up to the high school with a couple of people and we all got dressed. 2:45 hit and the entire team gathered in the lunch room. The coaches explained a couple things and we were off to the inside track (because it was literally freezing outside). I was relieved after the coach said we would just be learning the warm up the first day. It was very tedious, but we all got through it.
Tuesday we also had track (we have it everyday). The coaches and teammates all warned us that it would actually be hard that day. We warmed up inside and headed outside for the workout, personally I like being outside because there is fresh air and usually a nice breeze. Once everyone got to the track the coaches told us the workout. We had to sprint the long sides of the track (little over 100 m) and jog the short sides, we were to do this eight times. I thought I was going to die when they said that, but when we started I seemed to be doing pretty well. I finished and I was feeling pretty good. The coaches then announced that we were to do that again for five minutes and see how many we could get in. I paced myself and ended up getting the amount the coaches were looking for. I enjoyed it and it made me feel good about running (which has never happened before, ever).
Now onto today. Our workout was "hills", which reminds me of little league football. We did our warmup inside like usual and then put our layers on and went outside. This time we all jogged for about half a mile to the graveyard. We got there and the coaches informed us that we would be running around 70 m up a fairly steep hill eight times, and up a very short hill four times. I only ran four of the long ones because my coach didn't want me to be burned out for the lacrosse tournament this weekend, which was kind of annoying. We finished in about a half hour and then went back to the high school for some strength training. After that I did a leg and core workout with some of the football boys which was interesting to say the least.
I'm glad I joined the team and I guess we will see what's in store for the season. Now onto Vegas for lacrosse!
Sweet shirts that our lacrosse seniors made for vegas!
